From our hotel, we took one of the airport shuttles which turned out to be much more relaxing than the train.

About 40-minutes later we arrived at ICN and headed for the Cathay check-in counter since my friend had a checked bag.

ree

Surprisingly the business class line actually had a que.

ree

We were through quickly and headed through security very quickly. We headed to the contract Cathay lounge called Airlines Association Lounge.

ree

This turned out to be the lamest and crappiest lounge ever with a few sitting rooms.

And incredibly wimpy buffet.

ree

So we decided to leave immediately and head to one of the Priority Pass lounges or worst case just sit in the terminal itself since that is way better than that lounge.

ree

But first, Gong cha pearl tea!

ree

Then up into the Matina Lounge.

ree

It was nice enough with several conference rooms.

ree

And sleeper rooms with the transit hotel.

ree

And a decent buffet and restaurant sitting area.

ree

A nice spread.

The food was actually tasty.

ree

Also while sitting there, got my first real life glimpse of the new LH livery, it's certainly "clean" but also incredibly boring.

ree

Definitely don't bother arriving early to ICN if you don't have access to one of the Korean or Asiana lounges. The Matina lounge is definitely the place to go if you do have time to kill.
