We landed at Terminal A in Zurich and made our way to the newly opened Swiss First lounge at the end of the terminal.

ree

The walk down Terminal A under the departures level.

ree

On the way got a glimpse at the E-gates and the recently landed United 787 as the first United SFO-ZRH flight. I have mixed feelings about this routing because I'd rather not even have the option of flying UA into ZRH when I could be on LX.

ree

We cut through the transfers area and towards the signs for lounges, but couldn't find the F lounge. We found a Swiss rep who once she saw our boarding passes, escorted us to the almost invisible sign and door entering the new Terminal A Swiss First lounge.

ree

A friendly employee checked us in and the first look at the beautiful lounge.

ree

Upon entering the lounge is the bar area with warm wood and extremely Swiss in style.

ree

A great selection of whiskeys, grappas, and more in the center of the bar.

ree

A couple tables nearby for dining.

ree

Even though we were tight on time, had to take a look at the beautiful menu and have a glass of champagne.

ree

A look inside.

I went with the cream of garlic soup that was perfectly balanced and not too potent. Very nice and Swiss precision :)

ree

ree

Nearby the dining area was a relaxation room.

ree

Inside the relaxation room was two lounge chairs.

ree

ree

Back into the lounge area.

ree

ree

ree

Looking out into the check-in area of the terminal and where I'd shortly and briefly meet Zuerichspotter who was so kind to meet me and bring a sweater I left at his house.

ree

Popped out of the lounge and looped back from security.

ree

We met right in front of the First Class check-in and separate security entrance. You can see the lounge up to the right.

ree

Back up into the lounge, we asked to be transferred to Terminal E. On our way to the Swiss F transfers we walked past board rooms available for use.

ree

Down a beautiful wood hallway.

ree

Check out the details, this is as Swiss as La Premiere is French.

ree

Our attendant escorted us to our transfer van.

ree

Unfortunately we didn't get to ride in the S-Class.

ree

But the Mercedes van was still very nice.

ree

And we are on our way to Terminal E.

ree

Up through the tunnel between Terminal A and E with great views of heavies like this 77W that was probably destined for Los Angeles.

ree

ree

We pulled up towards the middle of the terminal and were escorted up an elevator to the Terminal E Swiss First lounge.

ree

Check-in at the very top of Terminal E, I was very excited to check this lounge and the terrace out.

ree

A nice wine cellar.

ree

The central bar area.

ree

ree

A great selection of champagnes, unfortunately we didn't have much time in the lounge to give them all a sample.

ree

Nice selection of desserts.

ree

ree

ree

ree

The dining seating area.

ree

Some lounge areas towards the windows.

ree

The backside of the lounge, you can't go outside, but still great views.

ree

A really cool binoculars for better plane spotting!

ree

And a panoramic of the terrace deck of the lounge, what an amazing place and we were so lucky with the weather!

ree

Absolutely perfect weather, it'd be easy to spend hours here.

ree

View down to the other end. Also note the solar panels on the roof.

ree

While spotting, some Rivella (why don't we have this in the US?) and champagne.

ree

Fantastic plane spotting!

And like that, it was time to board LX38 for SFO. Unlike La Premiere while they let us know it was time to head to our gate, there's no escort or drive to the gate. We bid adieu to the great staff and made our walk down Terminal E to our gate.

The Swiss First lounges are great, but would really recommend spending time at the Terminal E lounge rather than the Terminal A lounge. The spotting and views from the terrace are absolutely amazing for any avgeek.
